The Magtel Foundation hosted a participatory\nevaluation seminar on Tuesday last<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Funded by the European Union, the Community\ninitiative seeks to improve the quality and effectiveness of humanitarian\naction<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Magtel\nFoundation<\/strong> is one of\nthe partners committed to support the\nErasmus+ project \u201cKA2- Cooperation for Innovation and the Exchange of Good\nPractices\u201d<\/strong> (Innovation in Humanitarian Response: InovHumRe\n2020-1-PT01-KA203-078796). Funded by the European Union<\/a>, this initiative aims to improve the quality and effectiveness of\nhumanitarian action<\/strong> by improving training for students and\nprofessionals within the field. To achieve this, a curricular unit on the assessment of humanitarian aid and the\ndevelopment of learning tools will be launched.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since NGOs\nwith experience in humanitarian response will jointly create the structure and\ncontent of the curricular unit\u2014including the learning tools and textbook\u2014the\nresults will be based on work in the field and geared towards the learning\nneeds of both students and humanitarian professionals, i.e., NGOs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\npartnership between universities and non-governmental organisations working to\npromote the social inclusion of refugees and migrants ensures the involvement of stakeholders in the\ndevelopment of materials.<\/strong> This will have an impact on the\nrequirements for successful inclusion of a group that faces serious risk of\nsegregation and discrimination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The participatory evaluation seminar <\/strong>was\nhosted by the Magtel Foundation<\/strong>\nat their Cordoba headquarters last Tuesday. This activity was organised within\nthe framework of the Erasmus+ project (KA2) and featured Roc\u00edo Ciero, the\ncoordinator of the seminar and the foundation\u2019s project technician, as a\nspeaker. Antonio Lopez Pelaez, professor of Social Work and Social Services at\nUNED (Spanish National University of Distance Education), presented the project\nalongside Ciero, and together they outlined\nthe different NGO experiences in participatory evaluation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This seminar,\nalong with the session organised for Thursday this week, serves as a working\nsession for the Spanish team and Spanish social organisations, allowing them to\n\u201ctest the water\u201d and establish a direct conversation with NGOs working in the\nfield of emergency humanitarian aid and\/or care for refugees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday,\nEduardo Garcia Carmona, a representative of the Prolibertas\nFoundation <\/a>in Cordoba; Santiago Gonzalez Avi\u00f3n, director of the Asociaci\u00f3n\nDiversidades [Diversity Association], and Alvaro Morcillo Soto, general\ncoordinator of the Asociaci\u00f3n de Apoyo al Pueblo Sirio<\/a> [Association for Support to the\nSyrian People (AAPS), contributed their views and experiences to the\nparticipatory evaluation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tomorrow,\nThursday 16 September, Raquel Pelta, lecturer in design research and history at\nthe University of Barcelona, will also appear. She will focus on participatory evaluation from the\nperspective of co-design. <\/strong>Francisco Javier Garcia Castilla, lecturer\nin Social Work at the National University of Distance Education (UNED), and\nAngel de Juanas Oliva, lecturer in the Department of Education Theory and\nSocial Pedagogy within the Faculty of Education at UNED, will also explore\nonline methodologies for participatory evaluation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To finish\noff, there will be a round table discussion in which the contributions to the\nproject, from the Spanish experience, will be shared by the whole team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nseminars held in Cordoba on 14 and 16 September were made possible thanks to\nthe participation of 3 Spanish NGDOs. The\nresults of these discussions will be presented to other European project\npartners in Ankara (Turkey) on 22 September<\/strong> by the\nrepresentatives of Turkey, Portugal, Colombia and Brazil.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
