The TERAPIAM project developed by the Magtel Foundation has completed more than 1,100 sessions to support the work of therapists and physical therapists.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

More than 80 people with disabilities have undergone rehabilitation<\/b> and physical therapy<\/b> sessions through the TERAPIAM interactive program<\/b>. This initiative uses augmented reality techniques<\/b> and a motion capture system<\/b> to improve the autonomy of people with physical and intellectual disabilities<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Specifically, TERAPIAM<\/b> enables therapists and physical therapists to perform their regular work by completing rehabilitation sessions using this technological device. It places users in an entertaining setting<\/b>, similar to that of a video game, and using an avatar, they become the protagonist of their own therapy<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

This program has scheduled more than 1,100 sessions<\/b> involving the 18 activities<\/b> available in TERAPIAM<\/b>. Through the use of numbers, colors and sounds, participants complete the exercises and repetitions specified in their rehabilitation treatment<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

This increases the user\u2019s motivation<\/b>, concentration<\/b> and level of effort<\/b>. In fact, based on the results obtained, the level at which users perform routines improves in terms of the score obtained and the times required as the sessions progress.<\/span><\/p>\n

TERAPIAM<\/b> is geared towards people with functional physical and intellectual diversity<\/b> who are over the age of six, as well as older segments<\/b>. Its aim is to improve physical conditioning<\/b>, cognitive stimulation<\/b> and, overall, encourage personal autonomy<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

This project is funded by the Regional Government of Andalusia\u2019s Department of Equality and Social Policies<\/b> as part of the call covered by the 0.7% personal income tax allocation. It was developed in coordination with Codisa-Predif and Fepamic<\/b>, where the TERAPIAM<\/b> device was installed and worked on with users over the last four months.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the results presentation, the Director of the Magtel Foundation<\/b>, Adri\u00e1n Fern\u00e1ndez<\/b>, highlighted the entity\u2019s commitment \u201cto social innovation and using technology to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities.<\/i>\u201d On her behalf, the Delegate for Equality, Health and Social Policies pointed out that \u201call the resources are important, so with the goal of encouraging personal autonomy, the Regional Government of Andalusia supports any initiative that helps to build a better and more equal society.<\/i>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

A constantly evolving project<\/span><\/p>\n

TERAPIAM<\/b> was created in 2016<\/b> by the Magtel Foundation<\/b> and Magtel\u2019s R&D&i division<\/b>. During the initial phase, it was classified as a General Interest Project that Fosters Social Job Creation<\/b> by the Regional Government of Andalusia, leading the Magtel Foundation to hire a multidisciplinary team of ten qualified professionals with knowledge of unemployment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout its execution, it has been backed by three C\u00f3rdoba associations that work with people with disabilities\u2014Asociaci\u00f3n Cordobesa de Par\u00e1lisis Cerebral<\/b> (ACPACYS, C\u00f3rdoba Cerebral Palsy Association<\/b>), Asociaci\u00f3n de Parkinson de C\u00f3rdoba<\/b> (APARCOR, C\u00f3rdoba Parkinson\u2019s Association<\/b>) and Asociaci\u00f3n Cordobesa de Esclerosis M\u00faltiple<\/b> (ACODEM, C\u00f3rdoba Multiple Sclerosis Association<\/b>)\u2014and supported by the Instituto Municipal de Desarrollo Econ\u00f3mico y Empleo de C\u00f3rdoba<\/b> (IMDEEC, C\u00f3rdoba Municipal Institute for Economic Development and Employment<\/b>).<\/span><\/p>\n
