Fundación Orange, Fundación Adecco and Fundación  Magtel have established a collaboration agreement to promote access to the labour market for people at risk of social exclusion through the development of training programmes in the following areas installation of fibre optics to the home in Jaén, Granada and Málaga.

The signing ceremony for the project, held last Friday, was attended by the director of the Fundación Orange, Daniel Morales as well as the territorial director of Institutional Relations of Orange, Raúl Maldonado and the regional director of the Fundación Adecco, Miguel Ángel de Pedro and the director of Fundación Magtel, Adrián Fernández. Málaga City Council was represented by Juan Antonio Bermúdez from the Delegation of Innovation.

Specifically, the project aims to provide knowledge on  means of transmitting information; the distinction of the types of fibre optic cables and their characteristics; the execution of the installation and configuration of the elements and equipment that make up an FTTH installation, as well as the verification of compliance with the  established quality criteria.

The courses will have a total duration of 285 hours with an initial theoretical phase of 185 hours in a Classroom Workshop and a module of non-labour professional practices of 100 hours in companies in the sector.

Currently, the telecommunications sector has a  high level of labour insertion due to the high demand for professionals in this field. In this sense, the director of the Fundación Orange, Daniel Morales, has indicated that “for the Fundación Orange it is essential to make technology a tool for inclusion at the service of those who need it most”.

Commitment to labour-market insertion

He also added that “the collaboration with Fundación Magtel consolidates the alliance between our two entities, both committed to the employment of unemployed people through the development of training actions in the fibre optic sector” and emphasised that “the young people who join these training courses acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for the performance of a profession that is in high demand and has real possibilities of finding employment” high demand profession and with real possibilities of insertion in the labour market“.

For his part, the regional director of the Fundación Adecco in Eastern Andalusia, Miguel Ángel de Pedro, commented that “in a competitive and ever-changing labour market, it is essential to focus on the training of those who have the hardest time in the labour market training for those people who find it most difficult so that they are not left behind and can find sustainable employment over time”. Furthermore, he added that “through this collaboration we make this premise reality, bringing people at risk of exclusion closer to a sector as important and dynamic as that of telecommunications“.

Finally, the director of Fundación Magtel, Adrián Fernández, emphasised that “the qualification and professional insertion programmes in the fibre optic sector that we have been developing for the last 10 years demonstrate  Fundación Magtel’s commitment to unemployed people“.

He also acknowledged that “the Fundación Orange is a magnificent travelling companion on this journey, which has also been joined by the Fundación Adecco, as the three organisations have common goals to achieve the participants’ employability.

With regard to employability, Adrián Fernández said that “the people trained in this project have a high probability of finding a job in the telecommunications sector”.

Employment Agency, Fundación Magtel is developing two new training courses on the installation of FTTH for 30 people in Madrid.

The initiatives are being carried out from today by this entity in collaboration with Caritas Madrid and Fundación Orange in the first case, and in the second, with the Agencia de Empleo de Madrid and Fundación Orange.

These actions comprise a total of 285 hours each (185 hours of theoretical training and 100 hours of professional practice). The two courses will be held in morning and afternoon shifts respectively, and have a capacity of 15 participants each.

The objective is to facilitate the approach to the labour market through the position of home fibre optic installer with the acquisition of competences and skills and, in particular, by providing the students with the basic notions for the development of the professional activity.

The initiative represents a unique opportunity to train in the telecommunications sector by gaining the skills involved in the assembly and installation of a fibre optic telecommunications infrastructure.

There is currently a high demand for professionals in this field in the market.

The director of Fundación Magtel, Adrián Fernández the Mayor of Osuna, Rosario Andújar and the representative of the European School of Machinery Roxu Grupo, Manuel Altaba have signed a collaboration agreement to set up a series of training actions aimed at training unemployed people unemployed people in the sectors of renewable energies and telecommunications.

Fernández described this agreement as “a complete success, because initiatives are going to be implemented that will improve the professional training of citizens to put them at the service of companies and thus offer them an  opportunity in the labour market“.

In this sense, he advanced that “the training that is being proposed on a three-way basis is aimed at  quality training so that the residents of Osuna and the region have sustainable job opportunities over time”.

On the other hand, the representative of the European School of Machinery – Roxu Grupo has stated that “in the policy of expansion in Andalusia of all our activities we have found in Osuna an incomparable framework to develop this quality and very specific training and to open the training framework in this area, because the vocational training is, in short, the economic engine of a region.”

For her part, the Mayor of Osuna highlighted the solvency of an international company such as Roxu Grupo, which requires qualified personnel, and continued her speech by pointing out that this specific training is completed with the Fundación Magtel, “which in turn also needs people trained in these matters to be immediately incorporated  into the projects they want to develop throughout Spain”.

Rosario Andújar closed her speech by pointing out that the objective of this agreement is none other than the generation of employment aimed at a rapid incorporation into the labour market.

Fundación Magtel, in collaboration with Fundación Generation Spain has started two training programmes on the installation of solar panels in Seville – Magtel’s headquarters in Aerópolis – and in Cordoba. The initiative makes training and access to the labour market  possible for various vulnerable groups.

This new call for applications has been very well received. In this sense, the percentage of labour market insertion of the first two courses was 100%while the following four training paths- still to be finalised – are registering an insertion rate of 70%so far.

For the 40 vacancies in Seville -morning and afternoon shifts-, a total of 116 attendees  were registered in the pre-selection interviews, which means an attendance rate of  83% of the total number of applicants. In Cordoba, more than 100 candidates were interviewed to fill the 20 vacancies.

Specifically, this programme has a total of 430 hours divided into several blocks: 270 hours of theoretical content and 100 hours of non-labour work experience in companies in the sector. In addition, candidates will obtain other knowledge related to Occupational Health and Safety at Work as well as transversal workshops linked to the “green sector”.

The theoretical block is made up of the layout and actions prior to the photovoltaic installation; mechanical assembly in photovoltaic solar installations; electrical and electronic assembly; maintenance of photovoltaic solar installations; self-consumption electricity installations; introduction to the self-consumption of electricity; diagrams and technical specifications; Occupational Health and Safety at Work  in electricity: assembly and maintenance of high voltage and low voltage installations; and work at heights.

Once again, the new call for applications for grants  for Fundacion Magtel professional internships  has been opened with the aim of contributing to the labour insertion of recent graduates, especially young people without experience. The entity offers a unique opportunity through its Introduction to the Professional Field Programme.

To be eligible for one of the scholarships, participants must have obtained a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited institution after 31 December 2019. Students of technical engineering or higher who have passed all the subjects required to obtain the corresponding degree, with the exception of the final degree project, and students of intermediate and/or higher vocational training cycles who have passed all the theoretical subjects prior to their incorporation and have completed their internships in the company, may also apply for this programme.

The profiles must be in line with the characteristics required for the placements offered by the collaborating organisations, with which collaboration agreements will be signed beforehand.

Once selected, the participants will be placed during 2023 in different companies and institutions in order to apply the knowledge acquired during their training and learn how to function in the reality of a professional context.

Interested parties will be able to submit their applications throughout 2023.

The new training programme “Specialised training for people with disabilities in the field of new technologies” promoted by the Fundación Magtel, has started at the facilities of the Centro Internacional Politécnico of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

One of the new features compared to previous courses on digital literacy is the donation of three projectors by Fundación Magtel, enabling three organisations with people with functional diversity to follow part of the programme.

This type of training promotes access to and use of new technologies for certain groups with functional diversity, whose limitations in relation to digitalisation are considerable. For this reason, both entities have forged closer ties that will allow them to implement training itineraries with the aim of reducing the existing digital divide.

At the moment, a total of 15 students have started the free course which will run until next March. It is made up of a 32-hour face-to-face part and a 48-hour online part, divided into three thematic blocks.

The first refers to the basic operation of the computer and its equipment, the use of email and videoconferencing the second block contains topics related to the  the use of the DNI 3.0 and the digital certificate, the introduction to the Internet of Things (IoT), as well as the use of work tools such as PowerPoint and virtual assistants, among other subjects among other subjects.

Finally, basic content will be provided on cybersecurity and the use of smartphones.

The Magtel Foundation, alongside the Fundación Secretariado Gitano (Gypsy Secretariat Foundation) and the Orange Foundation, has completed the fibre optic home installer training course in Almeria. After three months of theoretical and practical learning, the course has been completed and the closing event celebration has been held at the Social Integration centre “Los Almendros”.

The event was presented by Maria Dolores Ramon Alonso, the Provincial Coordinator of the Fundación Secretariado Gitano. This was followed by a speech from Raul Maldonado Blanes, the Regional Director of Andalusia and Extremadura’s Institutional Relations at the Orange Foundation. Magtel’s Javier Vílchez, director of education, and Carlos Luque, manager of the training programme, were both in attendance.

Next, FSG-Almeria’s employment prospector Ana Martinez Angulo, accompanied by two participants of the training course, closed the speeches. Finally, the diplomas were awarded.

Incorporation into the labour market

Each training course run by the Magtel Foundation sees an increase in the numbers of people in vulnerable situations entering the labour market. We are also training professionals in a sector where demand far exceeds supply.

In addition to the training programme developed in Almeria, similar training programmes have been held in different locations across the country. One such example is Linares’ FTTH course, which is scheduled to be completed this week.

Participants have had the opportunity to both learn the theory (185 hours) and take part in work experience (100 hours). The theory was learnt in the classroom-workshop and consisted of content related to the configuration of installations, network equipment, and being able to carry out tests, measurements, soldering and simulations of installations. Following this training, they began work-experience with companies in the sector alongside a professional installer.

The Trade Training Centre in Usera, under the Madrid City Council, has hosted the presentation of diplomas to students participating in the two editions of the “Fibre Optic Installer” course, an initiative promoted by the Madrid Employment Agency and the Orange Foundation. This programme facilitates the incorporation of unemployed people into the labour market, particularly in innovative sectors such as telecommunications due to the existing demand for professionals specialised in the installation of new networks.

The event coincided with the completion of the programme’s theoretical training and was chaired by the representative of the Department of Economy, Innovation and Employment, Miguel Angel Redondo. He was accompanied by the director general of the Employment Agency, Jose Maria Meneses Castillo, the manager of the Orange Foundation’s Education Programmes, Angelica Bautista Gris, and the Magtel Foundation’s project manager, Javier Vilchez Luna.

All of them congratulated those who participated in this theoretical and practical training programme, which is comprised of a total of 285 training hours. This will give them the knowledge and skills they need to access a profession with high demand and tangible job prospects.

The course is comprised of 185 hours of theoretical learning in the classroom-workshop, where students study content relating to the configuration of installations, network equipment, etc., as well as how to carry out tests, measurements, soldering and installation simulations both inside and outside the classroom.

Once this stage is completed, it is followed by a practical stage, which starts now, consisting of 100 additional hours of work experience with the Magtel installation company in collaboration with the telecommunications operator Orange. This work experience gives course participants the first-hand experience they need to acquire and develop the professional skills required to make a career out of fibre optic installation.

The training is accompanied by complementary efforts aimed at promoting the development of key skills that facilitate labour insertion, such as the Employment Agency of Madrid’s guidance and intermediation services.

This new course strengthens the collaboration between the Employment Agency of Madrid City Council and the Orange Foundation on the development of training activities in the fibre optic sector. The course has achieved high levels of labour insertion and participant satisfaction is high.

The Magtel Foundation has completed a training programme on the installation of fibre-to-the-home (FTTH), promoted by the Youth Delegation of the City of Cordoba. As part of this programme, students have learnt how to install this type of fibre optic in homes.

The course was held between November 29 and December 30, and within the framework of the Planneo Cualifica Programme.

This course is aimed at young people between the ages of 18 and 35 who are either native to or residents of this region of Andalusia. Broadly speaking, it is an opportunity for participants to acquire further education and increase their employment prospects.

The Magtel Foundation has expertise and experience in organising training courses related to telecommunications, and the organisation teaches numerous courses throughout the year.

Training targeted at vulnerable groups

The programmes promoted by Planneo Cualifica aim to provide quality training content in emerging niches of employment, as is the case with the course offered by the Magtel Foundation; offer quality training through specific courses and workshops; improve the employability of vulnerable groups and encourage young people in vulnerable neighbourhoods to develop the skills they need to ensure their full inclusion.

The Magtel Foundation is accepting applications for a new edition of its Business Initiation Programme (PIAE), an annual initiative which offers work experience internships. This aim of this new edition of the programme is to contribute to the labour insertion of new graduates, especially young people without prior experience.

The programme is particularly aimed at individuals who have completed a university degree, education cycle or master’s degree from an accredited centre within the last three years.

Participant profiles must meet the requirements set out by the collaborating organisations, with which partnership agreements have been signed.

These internships help young people learn to cope with the realities of the working world by applying the knowledge they acquired during their training.

Commitment to training young people

Currently, the Foundation has agreements in place with 85 Secondary Schools and more than 20 Spanish and international universities. Its aim is to promote training and job integration in areas such as engineering, administration and finance, energy, electronics, telecommunications, IT, marketing and international trade. This initiative, promoted by the Magtel Foundation, is part of its commitment to enhancing training and employment through talent management and creating opportunities.

The latest Magtel Foundation Business Initiation Programme stood out for its high rate of labour insertion. Up to 57.37% of participants were employed by their work experience placements at the end of the internship period.
